A synthesis of Literature on Sensory Integration Intervention: Using experimental domestic Studies from 2000 to 2012

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to analyze sensory integration intervention for children with autism spectrum disorders based on the interior studies conducted between 2000 and 2012. The results are as followed: First, the analysis is based on the total of 18 articles published in the peer-reviewed journals and shows that studies on the sensory integration has greatly increased since 2007. Also, the review indicates that the subjects are autism spectrum disorder, developmental disorder and developmental delay 7 months - 13 years children. Second, the research settings were therapy rooms. The experimental design that were used most frequently was randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The main dependent variables were found to be stereotypical behavior. Third, the quantitative analysis of the effects of the sensory integration intervention showed that there is a significant effects of the sensory integration intervention all articles. Also, among the 18 articles, 3 studies included maintenance data. As a results, implications of this analysis and future directions are discussed.
